* 14,500 graduates apply for 3,000 teacher vacancies in Sri Lanka

Sept 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka Examination Department is to hold a competitive examination to recruit 3,000 graduates to the teaching service, Commissioner General of Examinations Anura Edirisinghe said.

The examination is to be held on September 24 at 90 examination centers in Colombo district.

Around 14,500 graduates are taking the exam to fill the 3,000 teacher vacancies in the provincial council and national schools.

A large number of Sri Lankan graduates expect government sector jobs and the majority of them is graduates of liberal arts.
