* Special delegation of Sri Lanka Election Secretariat to visit Northern Province to monitor situation

June 21, Colombo: Election Secretariat of Sri Lanka has planned to dispatch a team of special delegates to visit the districts of the Northern Province to monitor the situation there ahead of the local government elections.

Election Secretariat says that a Deputy Election Commissioner and two senior officials are in the delegation.

They are to monitor the security situation and the organizing of the elections by the Election Department officials.

The delegation will visit Mullaitivu district on June 27, Jaffna district on June 28 and Kilinochchi district on June 29.

They are to hold discussions with the district Returning Officers, Assistant Election Commissioners, Senior Polling Officers, senior police officials, and the military.
