* CID investigates motorcycles seized from the political office of Sri Lanka's defeated Presidential candidate

June 09, Colombo: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sri Lanka police informed Colombo magistrate court today that a special investigation was underway regarding three motorcycles seized from the campaign office of former Army Commander and defeated presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka.

The CID reported that the three motorcycles had no number plates. The magistrate ordered the police to inquire from the Customs about the items.

The three motorcycles are a part of the eight motorcycles and several computers seized from the office on January 29, 2010 based on a complaint lodged by the Inspector General of Police regarding a possible plan of committing a crime.

Twenty three persons were also arrested and they were later released.

Further hearing of the case was postponed till October 20.
