July 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Industry and Commerce is planning to assist ten medium to large scale firms to adopt the ISO 14001 process in their firms.
The standard will help them to go green and gain the "Preferred Supplier" status among international buyers, the Ministry says.
The Ministry expects to invest Rs. six million in this project. It will provide consultancy to the selected companies to achieve ISO 14001.
Over 100 companies in Sri Lanka already have ISO 14001 status.
