Aug 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka defense sources say that Sri Lanka Air Force has decided to acquire two new Bell-412 helicopters.
Sources say that three senior officials of the Sri Lanka Air Force are now in Texas to handle the preliminary work of the purchase.
The Air Force sources say that it is in dire need of these helicopters due to technical problems of some of the helicopters they have now. The Air Force has eight of the Bell 412 helicopters in its fleet.
Bell 412 is a utility helicopter mainly used for VIP transportation and they have been initially introduced to the Air Force in 1985.
