May 07, Colombo: The latest addition to the Sri Lanka's national carrier SriLankan Airlines, an Airbus A320 aircraft, will join its fleet on May 19.

The newly acquired aircraft will arrive in Sri Lanka on May 19, says Minister of Civil Aviation Priyankara Jayaratna.

The aircraft has been purchased from France. It has seating for 20 business class passengers and 120 economy class passengers.

This A320 is one of the seven aircraft to be added to the airline this year.

With the new arrival, the SriLankan fleet will have 17 aircraft. It includes five A320s, five A330s, five A340s, and two De Havilland Twin Otters.

SriLankan Airlines Chairman Nishantha Wickremasinghe said in a recent function that it is the objective of the Airline to serve not only the tourism industry, but all types of export and import industries, and also to serve as a regional hub connecting South Asia with the rest of the world.
