* Sri Lanka governing party to hand in list of LG candidates today, the opposition tomorrow

Mar 24, Colombo: Sri Lanka's governing United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has said that the list of candidates of the local government bodies won by the party would be submitted to the Elections Commissioner today.

UPFA General Secretary and Minister Susil Premajayantha has told the media the list of names will be submitted today.

Meanwhile, a seven member committee headed by former Prime Minister and senior minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka has been appointed to decide on the heads of the local government bodies won by the UPFA.

The main opposition UNP meanwhile is to hand over their list of candidates representing the local government bodies on Friday (25).
