Jan 14, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Department of Elections has extended the deadline for accepting applications for postal votes for the forthcoming local government elections.
The Department announced today that the deadline has been extended till January 27.
The deadline to forward the applications for the postal voting was initially January 16.
According to the Department, the deadline has been extended due to the lack of time to hand in applications to the Department.
Elections for 301 local bodies including 4 municipal councils, 39 urban councils, and 258 Pradeshiya Sabhas are to be held before April 01.
