* Sri Lanka Election Commissioner permits political parties to observe postal voting

Feb 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka Election Commissioner has decided to give opportunity for the political parties to observe the postal voting of the local government election although such a measure is not specified by the local government election act.

Accordingly, one representative each of political parties will be allowed to observe the postal voting process.

The postal voting will take place at the government offices on March 8 and 9. The local government election is to be held on March 17.

The Election Commissioner has also decided to permit the election monitoring organizations to monitor the postal voting if they apply for it.
