Feb 16, Colombo: Well-known Sri Lankan actress and United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian who defected to the government last year, Upeksha Swarnamalee also known as Pabha, has been hospitalized for injuries sustained during an alleged domestic dispute.

Swarnamalee has been admitted to the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital for treatment for facial injuries.

The police have reportedly said that an inquiry is being conducted into the incident as Swarnamalee had been admitted to hospital following an assault.

However, an official complaint on the attack has not yet been lodged with the police.

Swarnamalee entered parliament from the UNP after the last general election and later crossed over to the government last year after supporting the 18th Amendment to the Constitution.
