* Sri Lanka Marxist party to hold May Day procession this year after 2007
Fri, Apr 22, 2011, 08:20 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has decided to hold a procession for the May Day after several years.

JVP sources told ColomboPage that the party would hold a May Day procession this year for the first time since 2007.

The JVP organized a May Day rally every year since the party entered mainstream politics.

However, the party did not organize a May Day rally since 2007 due to the security situation at the time.

The procession this year is to commence from the S. de S. Jayasinghe ground in Dehiwela and proceed to the BRC ground in Colombo where the rally would be held.
