* Sri Lanka Central Bank presents Annual Report 2010 to the President

Apr 11, Colombo: Sri Lanka Central Bank today presented its 2010 Annual Report to the President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is also the country's Minister of Finance and Planning.

Deviating from the tradition of the report being brought to him by the Bank authorities, the President himself went to the Central Bank and received the 61st annual report of the Monetary Board today from the Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal.

According to the Monetary Law Act the Monetary Board of the Central Bank is required to submit an annual report detailing the state of the economy, the condition of the Central Bank and the policies and measures adopted by the Monetary Board during the year to the Finance Minister within four months of the commencement of the following year.

Sri Lanka recorded an impressive economic growth of 8% during the year of 2010.

Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena, Secretary to Finance Ministry Dr. P.B. Jayasundara and several officials of the Monitory Board were also present at the occasion.
