* New Year traditional oil anointing under the patronage of Sri Lanka President

Apr 10, Colombo: Sri Lanka is preparing to celebrate the traditional Sinhala and Tamil New Year which is to dawn at the auspicious time of 1:01 p.m. local time on Thursday, April 14.

The National Oil anointing ceremony of the New Year will be held in Matara under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Sri Rohana Temple of Golden Island, Matara on April 16.

The Buddhist priests will anoint oil on President's head at the auspicious time for the task.

The Department of the Commissioner of Ayurveda has taken measures to send the auspicious timetables and packets of herbs to the temples and the traditional physicians, says the Commissioner of Ayurveda Palitha Weerakoon.
