Apr 06, Colombo: Vice Captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team Mahela Jayawardena has also resigned from the post today.

Jayawardena's resignation from the vice captaincy comes a day after Captain Kumar Sangakkara handed in his resignation from the post of Captain.

Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga has confirmed to the media that Jayawardena has stepped down from the vice captaincy.

According to Ranatunga, Jayawardena had agreed to take up the vice captaincy only until the conclusion of the World Cup.
