Sept 16, Colombo: The Sri Lanka Police today transferred two senior police officers pending investigations into the death of a seven-year-old boy in Beruwela during a shootout yesterday.
The local media has reported that Nugegoda Division SSP Deshabandu Tennakoon and ASP Senapathi in charge of the Mirihana police area have been transferred to the Police Field Force Headquarters with immediate effect.
SSP Tennakoon has been quoted in the media saying that he has received a letter from the Police Headquarters to report to the Police Field Force Headquarters in Bambalapitiya immediately.
A seven-year-old boy was killed during a shoot out in Beruwela yesterday between the police and a gang of robbers.
The IGP yesterday sent a special police team from Colombo to Beruwela to investigate the incident.
The police have arrested nine suspects including five policemen over the incident.
