Sept 06, Colombo: A Sri Lankan court has Monday ordered the director of the controversial HiCorp Company be produced before a psychiatrist at the National Institute of Mental Health at Angoda.

The Colombo High Court has ordered a psychiatric evaluation on the Director of the HiCorp Company Wellington DeHoedt and to submit the report to courts on September 8.

Courts had made the order after his lawyer informed courts that DeHoedt was mentally unstable.

Dehoedt was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) on January 7, 2010 for his alleged involvement in defrauding the government by presenting forged documents to the Sri Lanka Army, while the company was supplying equipment.

Hicorp is a company owned by Danuna Tilakaratne, the son-in-law of defeated presidential candidate and former Chief of Defence Staff General (retd.) Sarath Fonseka. The pair is the main accused in the fraudulent arms deal.

Danuna Tilakaratne, meanwhile, remains at-large and his whereabouts are currently unknown.
