July 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka's capital Colombo will soon have a separate night-life spot on the weekends to entertain fun-seeking tourists to the city as well as residents.

According to the City Administrator a dedicated location in the metropolitan area of Colombo will be set apart for the night-life entertainment on the weekends in a carnival like atmosphere with food courts from the Colombo's Star hotels.

The move is aimed at attracting tourists to the city as Colombo is becoming the busiest town with and influx of tourists and travelers after the war ended last year.

During the height of the separatist war with the LTTE the city saw subdued activity due to the threats of suicide attacks, road closures and numerous security checkpoints.

With the peace dawning in the country businesses are booming and tourists are frequenting the star hotels in Colombo again. Local travelers are again flocking to the city as the night-time transportation facilities to distant localities have resumed.

The government said it has also drawn up a master plan to reclaim around 500 acres of land in the sea south of Colombo to set up an entertainment village under the tourism development plan.
