* More than two-third of cooked food kiosks in Sri Lanka capital below standard

July 30, Colombo: Colombo Municipal Council has found out that 380 of the inspected places where cooked food is sold in the city are below standard.

This was revealed when the Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council inspected 480 eating places in the city.

The Municipal Council has issued standard certificates for the places where the services are standard in hygienic conditions.

The Municipal Council has given the low standard eating places a time frame to improve their standards.

A large number of unscrupulous traders are engaged in the business of selling cooked food for sheer profit and public often complain regarding unhygienic conditions of them.
