July 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka police say that 101 complaints regarding abductions have been received within the seven months from January to July in 2010.
These complaints have been received from various parts of the island. Ninety-three of these complaints are related to ransom seeking cases.
Police media spokesman Prishantha Jayakody said that 88 of these complaints had been investigated and the abducted persons were found.
The highest number of complaints regarding abductions was from Colombo Central and Colombo South areas. The number of complaints received from these areas was 63. However, police have found 60 of these abducted persons so far.
