July 29, Ratnapura: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today declared open a new maternal and infant unit at the Ratnapura General Hospital.

Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thera Foundation has constructed the new facility to mark the completion of ten years of Mahamewna Meditation Centre.

President Rajapaksa wished well to the first infant patient admitted to the new unit, baby Lakshika Dilshani and her mother.

Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province, W.J.M. Lokubandara, Ministers Maithripala Sirisena, W.J.D Senevirathne, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara, Superintendent of the Hospital K.M.D.Dharamapriya and several Provincial Councils members were present at the occasion.
