July 26, Colombo: A man set himself ablaze opposite the head office of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP), Sirikotha, this evening.

The man reportedly in his late 50s is currently being treated at the Kalubowila Hospital for severe burn injuries.

According to reports the victim, Rienzie Algama, was demanding the party to implement the proposals submitted by the UNP reforms committee.

Kalubowila Hospital officials have said that the victim was in critical condition due to the severe burn injuries.
