July 24, Colombo: A Stupa made of empty cartridge shells left behind from Sri Lanka's long civil war has become a major tourist attraction in Bodhgaya, an Indian news report said.

According to a report by ANI, the stupa made of the remnants of war materials has been established in Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya of India's Bihar state this February to spread a message of peace among the people in the world.

"A military group from Sri Lanka donated a Stupa made of empty cartridges. Like there was a war situation in Sri Lanka for the past 30 years and everybody all over the world was worried because of it. So we pray, that such kind of war never takes place, not only in our country but also no where in the world and peace prevails in the society," the report said quoting Bhante Sivali Thero, a Buddhist monk at the Mahabodhi Temple.

The Mahabodhi Temple declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 2002 is located is located about 60 mi from Patna in Bihar state of India. The location is where Buddha attained enlightenment.
