May 10, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena says the shortage of drugs in several hospitals of the country will be alleviated within two weeks with the help of the Sri Lankan Air Force.
Cargo aircraft of the Sri Lanka Air Force will be utilized to import essential drugs immediately, the Minister said.
The measure was taken following discussions held with the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa over the use of Air Force cargo aircraft to bring in the drugs promptly.
Reportedly there is a severe shortage of medicine at several hospitals at present. The Minister hopes to distribute the medicine without a delay once received.
