Jun 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka Consumer Affairs Authority has conducted 350 raids on eating places around the country last month alone to guarantee proper sanitary conditions and prices, said the CAA chairman Rumi Marzook at a press conference held in Colombo today.
The Consumer Affairs Authority has imposed fines of Rs. Seven billion within the first five months of this year on errant businesses, the Chairman said.
The condition of the food items sold in these eating places and their prices are checked by the officials during the raids.
Public Health Inspectors of the Department of Health join the Consumer Affairs Authority in conducting the raids.
