Jun 14, Colombo: Several political leaders of Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) are currently on a fact finding mission in the war-torn North.
The JVP delegation is expected to tour areas in the North to gather information on the current situation and the plight of the IDPs still in camps as well as the resettled.
The delegation is expected to return to Colombo on Wednesday (16).
JVP-led Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake told the media that the party members needed to gather first hand information as those released by the government was not reliable.
He said the party wished to find out the plight of the IDPs and the issues faced by them.
The JVP delegation includes party leader Somawansa Amarasinghe, parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Bimal Ratnayake, Ramalingam Chandrasekeran and M. Morgan.
