* Sri Lanka Navy brings home fishermen released from India

Mar 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy Saturday (27) brought home 25 fishermen released from custody by the Indian officials, the Navy said.

Indian Coast Guard Ship "Kittur Chenamma" has handed over the released fishermen and five trawlers to the Sri Lankan Navy at the Indo-Sri Lanka International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the seas north of Kankasanthurai.

The sailors have brought the fishermen who were from Dondra and Tangalle to the Kankasanthurai harbor and provided them with food and other necessities. The Navy has provided transportation for the fishermen to reach their homes.

The fishermen have been released through the efforts of the Sri Lankan government, Ministry of Fisheries and the Navy. They have been arrested for venturing into Indian territorial waters.
