* Set aside petty differences and unite to rebuild the country, Sri Lanka President urges

Mar 25, Badulla: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing a ruling party campaign rally in public rally at the Keppetipola Maha Vidyala grounds in Welimada today urged the masses to set aide their petty differences and unite to rebuild the land of their birth.

A village cannot be developed without unity among the villagers as a family without unity among its members is unproductive to larger society, the President pointed out.

The President said he is hopeful that next month's general election will create a strong parliament comprising capable MPs who care about the country and not just give speeches and debates.

Following the rally in Welimada, the President toured the construction site of the public grounds in Mahiyangana which is being constructed by the 7th Engineers Corps of the Sri Lanka Army under the President's directive to provide the public with an environmentally-friendly fully fledged sports complex.

Later, the President declared open the newly constructed child, maternity, and surgery unit at the Bibile base hospital. Uva Province Chief Minister Shashendra Rajapaksa accompanied the President on his tour.
