Mar 25, Colombo: Democratic National Alliance, the party led by former Sri Lanka Army Commander Retired General Sarath Fonseka, today (25) called on the government to provide the detained General with lodging facilities with better ventilation as he is in poor health after developing breathing difficulties.
DNA front liner and JVP parliamentary group leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake told the media that General Fonseka has developed breathing difficulties due to a cough.
Dissanayake said that General Fonseka's wife, Anoma Fonseka had informed the party of the General's deteriorating health condition.
He observed that although court had granted permission for close relatives to visit General Fonseka, who is in military custody, the government has not facilitated the court directive. Anoma is the only person currently given access to General Fonseka.
Dissanayake observed that the government by permitting only Anoma to visit General Fonseka was trying to limit her participation in the DNA general election campaign.
