* Private electronic media station in Sri Lanka attacked

Mar 22, Colombo: The office of a private electronic media network in Sri Lanka, MTV/MBC Networks in Colombo came under attack by a group of unknown individuals this evening.

An unidentified group had arrived at the office premises located at Braybrooke Place in Colombo and had thrown stones at the office and its staff.

The gang has fled the scene when the MTV employees had retaliated, an official from MTV said.

However, the police after arriving at the scene had arrested 16 persons allegedly involved in the attack.

The attack had injured several MTV employees and damaged several vehicles that were parked inside the office premises. The MTV office had come under several attacks in the past including an arson attack in 2008.
