Election Commissioner instructs Returning officers on upcoming election Mar 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka Election Commissioner Dayananda Dishanayake today held a special discussion session to brief his support staff on the rules and regulations of the upcoming general election. The Commissioner met with the Assistant Election Commissioner and Returning Officers and instructed them on how to organize activities in polling centers and counting centers. The general election to select a new parliament will be held on April 8. Poll cards are being distributed at present. Postal voting for the election will be held on March 25th and 26th. A record number of 7,620 candidates are vying for a seat in the 225-member parliament. |
