* Sri Lanka court orders to remand Security Chief of Cinnamon Lakeside hotel

Mar 17, Colombo: The Colombo Fort Magistrate today ordered to remand the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel till March 31for deleting the tapes from the security cameras on January 26th and 27th.

Cinnamon Lakeside is where the defeated presidential candidate General Sarath Fonseka hauled himself in along with his supporters soon after the election claiming that his life was in danger from the government.

The government says he plotted plans from the hotel with deserted army soldiers to assassinate the President and his family and take over the government by a coup.

The former military commander later left the hotel on his own. However, the government arrested 13 of his military deserters.
