Mar 15, Colombo: Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa said the people needed to give the President clear legislation powers in addition to the executive powers to successfully implement the second phase of the Mahinda Chinthana policies.
He said that executive powers alone was insufficient to successfully implement the policies outlined in the Mahinda Chinthana Idiri Dekma policy statement launched during the last presidential election campaign.
Presidential adviser added that there was a lot to be done in the next four years and that time was of essence. He observed that a delay in the decision making process would push the country back by several years.
"The country has never had this opportunity earlier. We have a good leader with a vision, peace and when we combine it with the good human resources in the country we are on the right path," the former parliamentarian and President's younger brother said.
