* Sri Lanka Supreme Court finds Sunday Leader guilty of contempt of court

Mar 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka Supreme Court severely warned the editor-in-chief of the Sunday Leader newspaper Frederica Janz today for contempt of court.

A five-bench panel of Supreme Court judges today heard a complaint that a column published in The Sunday Leader newspaper insulted the Supreme Court judge Shirani Thilkawardhana.

The bench ruled the column amounted to contempt of the judiciary and to the country.

Ms. Janz begged pardon and the Supreme Court ordered her to publish an apology in the front page of the newspaper.
