Sri Lanka to export indigenous medicines to Japan

Mar 15, Colombo: Sri Lankan government is making arrangements to export country's indigenous medicinal plants to the Japanese consumers.
A project to cultivate medicinal plants and export under the patronage of Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa has been approved. A facility is currently being built in Hunnasgiriya of Kandy to cultivate the plants and an export plant will be constructed in the Dambadeniya area.
A Japanese company has invested 620 million rupees in the project that will create a large number of direct and indirect employment opportunities.
According to the Minister several other such projects will be launched in the future to cater to the need of foreign markets for indigenous system of medicine.
