* Fire destroys famous cinema hall in Jaffna

Mar 14, Jaffna: A popular movie theater in Jaffna has been completely destroyed by a fire, the police said.

A fire broke out on Friday has completely burned the famous Nimalendra hall in Velvettithurai, the birthplace of late LTTE leader Prabhakaran.

Police said a short circuit was the cause for the fire. However, no one has been injured in the fire.

Fire brigade with the help of the troops from Gemunu Hewa Regiment were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, police said.
