Mar 13, Jaffna: There are feasible ways to win the rights of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka and day-dream deliberations of certain Tamil politicians cannot do anything good to the people, leader of the Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) said.
Addressing a public meeting yesterday at Alavi north in Jaffna, the Social Services and Social Welfare Minister and EPDP Secretary General Douglas Devananda said he is fulfilling the needs of his people one by one and they are advancing towards a respectable life in a peaceful way facing a general election.
"Our people must identify the leaders who induced our youths and drove them into the meaningless war which destroyed thousands of our youths and devastated our area and marginalized them. When our people were suffering they deserted them for luxury life abroad with their families," Devananda, a Tamil himself, said.
The Minister urged the people to use their franchise to strengthen the party's hands which fulfill their needs for an independent life.
"I hope the people will grant me an opportunity to continue my service in this feasible way for their future without shedding blood or tears," the Minister said.
