* First election campaign rally of Sri Lanka ruling party in Kandy

Mar 13, Colombo: Sri Lanka ruling United People's Freedom Alliance will launch its election campaign from the hill capital of Sri Lanka, Kandy on March 19.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will launch the campaign by holding the first mass rally in Kandy on the 19th.

The Alliance will hold 25 other mass rallies island wide under the patronage of the President. One public rally will each be held in 20 of the 22 districts while two rallies each will be held in Colombo and Kurunegala districts.

In addition 76 rallies have been organized in all electorates under the patronage of Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka.
