Sri Lanka opposition leader to celebrate his birthday with religious activities

Mar 13, Colombo: Sri Lanka's opposition United national party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe is to celebrate his 61st birthday with island wide religious ceremonies.
The opposition party said several religious ceremonies are to be held across the country to mark the occasion on March 24th. Religious activities at temples as well as voluntary social work have also been organized.
The activities that include blood donation campaign, voluntary health services, Bodhi poojas and distribution of meals have been arranged by his private secretary Sudath Chandrasekera to bless the party leader.
These campaigns and activities will be ceremonially launched at the UNP Headquarters, Sri Kotha at PitaKotte in the morning of the 24th, the party website said.
Wickremasinghe who was born on March 24, 1949 entered the parliament in 1977. He has been the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka twice from 1993-1994 and in 2001 -2004
