TID questions Sri Lanka opposition candidate over connections with General Fonseka

Mar 10, Colombo: Sri Lanka Terrorism Investigations Department (TID) today summoned main opposition United National Party Colombo District candidate Shiral Lakthileka to record a statement on his affiliation with former Army Commander, retired General Sarath Fonseka during the Presidential election.
Lakthileka was asked to be present at the TID at 9.30 a.m. and was interrogated for about two and a half hours.
Lakthileka said that he was questioned on fund disbursements made by General Fonseka during the Presidential election campaign following information received by the General's coordinating secretary, Senaka Silva, who is currently under CID custody.
After recording his statement, TID has informed Lakthileka that he would be re-summoned if there were any need for clarification.
