Mar 08, Colombo: The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) led by defeated presidential candidate General (Retd) Sarath Fonseka says that details of his campaign funds received during the presidential election campaign would be revealed to the courts.
Former Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Parliamentary Group Leader and DNA front liner Anura Kumara Dissanayake told the media that details of the campaign funds would be revealed to courts shortly since several false allegations have been made regarding these funds.
He said that details of those funds were not made public earlier in order to protect the lives of those who made the donations.
However, Dissanayake said that he would now provide details to the courts on the donors and organizations that gave funds to General Fonseka's campaign and how they had earned the money.
The funds received by General Fonseka during the presidential election campaign caused a controversy when the CID found millions of rupees in several bank vaults belonging to the General's son-in-law, Danuna Tilakaratne’s mother, Asoka Tilakaratne last month.
