Sri Lanka Navy rescues 5 refugees stranded in the sea

Mar 07, Mannar: Sri Lanka naval troops on Saturday rescued five people who were stranded in the seas off the Northwestern coast of the country and brought ashore safely.
The five men between the ages of 24 – 40, assumed to be Sri Lankan refugees attempting to return to the country from India, were stranded for four days in the sand banks off the Mannar coast.
The alerted troops attended to their aid and brought the stranded men home. The men were provided with medical care and food. They are waiting to be handed over to the Mannar Police for further legal proceedings after the preliminary investigations are completed.
With the end of hostilities Sri Lankan refugees are returning to the country. Last month the navy assisted a group of seven people trying to reach the northwestern shore,
