Sri Lankan monk suspected of storing explosives further remanded

Mar 06. Colombo: A Sri Lankan court ordered to further remand four suspects including an incumbent monk of a Buddhist temple arrested for possession of explosives.
The suspects including Ven. Uvatenne Sumana Thero, a resident monk of the Bodhirukkarama Temple in capital Colombo were arrested in January for allegedly possessing explosives to stage an attack against the Government during the Presidential polls.
The CID, submitting a report to Courts said that inquiries against the suspects had already been completed.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Lal Bandara remanded the suspects until the 15th of this month. He also instructed the authorities to provide the monk with his necessary medication.
Sri Lanka Police Special Task Force personnel found two T-56 riffles and 54 hand grenades during a raid on the Temple premises.
