* Removing all election posters and cut-outs underway in Sri Lanka

Mar 05, Colombo: On the orders of Sri Lanka Election Commissioner the police are carrying out an effective program to remove all the posters, banners, and cut-outs of political parties.

Police Media Spokesman Superintendant of Police Prishantha Jayakody said that workers are being recruited now to help the police to remove the displays and finish the task within the next two to three days.

The Election Commissioner has allocated 22 million rupees for this purpose, the Election Secretariat said.

According to election regulations, a candidate can only display such banners at the party office and where a meeting is being organized. The Elections Chief has directed to remove all other illegal publicity material.
