Police to begin removing election displays in Sri Lanka

Mar 03, Colombo: Sri Lankan Police has implemented a program to remove all illegal election displays in the country, sources at the Police Headquarters said.
The police have employed a large number of workers to remove all posters, banners, and cutouts and other propaganda materials displayed for the General Election following the directive of the Election Commissioner Dayananda Dishanayake.
Earlier the Election Commissioner requested all the political candidates and their supporters to remove the displays by today.
Candidates of 24 political parties and 310 independent groups are contesting in the forthcoming General Election.
