* Sri Lankan Ambassador to UN honored with Global Citizenship Award

Mar 03, New York: Orphans International Worldwide (OIWW) recently honored Sri Lanka's Permanent Representative to the Unite Nations, Dr. Palitha Kohona with a Global Citizenship Award during a V.I.P reception held at the Webster Hall in New York.

The award recognizes individuals who best personify the global citizenship through their leadership in helping humanity.

Other awardees recognized at the occasion on February 28th included African singer Emmanuel Jal, Ambassador and author Sichan Siv, U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, Emmy Award winning anchor and reporter Ms. Cindy Hsu, Member of the Hellenic Parliament Ms Dionesia Avgerinopoulou, Ms Charlotte Brandin of World Childhood Foundation, Dr Judy Kuriansky of Columbia University and Singer Peter Yarrow.

Orphans International Worldwide was founded by Jim Luce in 1999 and is associated with the United Nations.
