* Sri Lanka private sectors employees to receive pay hike

Jan 31, Colombo: Private Sector employees of Sri Lanka are to receive a pay raise, the Labour Ministry announced.

Secretary to the Labour Ministry Mahinda Madihahewa said measures have been taken to grant a 15 % salary increase to the private sector employees with the minimum salary being 5,750 rupees.

The measure is taken to provide relief to the private sector employees as well. The state sector employees were given a 2,500 rupee Cost of Living Allowance from this month.

The salary hike will be implemented based on the decisions of the Wages Board.
