* Sri Lanka President pays homage to Temple of Tooth after his victory

Jan 30, Kandy: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today paid homage to the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of The Tooth) after his re-election as the country's 6th executive president on Wednesday.

The President also called on the Chief Prelate of the Malwatta Chapter Ven. Tibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera, Anu Nayaka of the Malwatta Chapter Ven. Niyagoda Vijitha Siri Thera and the Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkita Thera and received blessings.

President Rajapaksa later visited the Rajopawanarama Temple at Getembe in Kandy and presented a copy of the Mahinda Chintana – Extended Version to the Chief Incumbent Ven. Keppetiyagoda Siri Wimala thera.

The President was also to observe the preparations that are in full swing to hold the mega Independence Day celebrations next Thursday (Feb 04) in Kandy.
