President to open Diyagama International Sports Complex on 21st

Jan 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa is to declare open the Diyagama International Sports Complex on 21st January.
Spread over 156 acres, the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Diyagama, Homagama, about 15 kilometers southeast of capital Colombo, will facilitate the sports of rugby, soccer, as well as athletics including track and field. The ground comprises a swimming pool, a rifle shooting range and a gymnasium.
The environmentally friendly sport complex houses two pavilions, one for the ball games and another for the track and field events that can accommodate more than 3000 spectators each.
The foundation stone for the complex was laid on 05th of June 2006.
The 7th engineering services division of the Sri Lanka Army was in-charge of construction.
