Public has the right to select proper leadership for the country, Sri Lanka President says

Jan 16, Kandy: The Sri Lankan public has the right to select a proper leader who can take the country towards prosperity and no one will be allowed to take that supreme right away from the masses, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today.
Addressing a meeting with the All Ceylon Agricultural Advisors at the President's House in Kandy this morning, the President pledged to establish an indigenous economic system in the country and empower the local economy by developing local agriculture and industry.
The President stressed that his policies are people friendly and he is committed to fulfill the promises he made to the public.
He said the public needs a united country devoid of hatred and differences and a better future for the younger generations, The public can exercise their power on the 26th to achieve that by defeating the separation politics of the opposition candidate and the Tamil National Alliance, he said.
People of the North and South are now free to move to any area of the island via A-9 highway and the National Lion Flag is visible everywhere including the Northern and Eastern provinces instead of the LTTE flag, the President pointed out.
A large number of opposition UNP activists in the Kandy district, artists, and the business community from Kurunegala met the President and expressed their support to the President at the upcoming election. They commended the President for his dedication to establish a terrorism free country.
