The Chief Minister of Eastern Province Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan presented a memento to the President to mark the occasion. Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan was also present at the meeting.
President Rajapaksa later addressed a large gathering of the Muslim community in Kattankudy. Eastern Provincial Council Minister A.L.M. Hisbulla welcomed the President at the rally.
